Looking for a macro lens for your Canon Powershot, Nikon Coolpix, Kodak Easyshare, Sony Cybershot, Panasonic Lumix, Fujifilm Finepix, Olypus Stylus or other small point and shoot?
You may have searched the web high and low and feel that no such animal exists. You would however, be incorrect. There are two products currently on the market which are indeed macro lenses for compact cameras, giving you better than the required 1:1 ratio needed in order to qualify as a true macro.
The first product is the Little BigShot Image Amplifier. This is a low cost but effective lens which works with almost all makes and models. It requires a little assembly (under 5 minutes) and thereafter snaps onto your camera in a flash whenever you want to shoot macros. Image quality is good. The lens allows you to manipulate your bokeh effect with versatility. It also allows you to use the FHRS macro focus technique, which is useful for both hand held macro focus and sunlight adjustment. Cost is $20 which includes shipping worldwide. Website: Little BigShot
The second product is the Raynox DCR-250 Diopter. This product fits super zoom cameras with large lens barrels. It attaches to the sides of the lens barrel so there could be lens retract issues. It costs three times more than Little BigShot and performs the same way with the same benefits. The nice thing about it is that it just happens to fit the cameras which Little BigShot can't fit! Conversely, Little BigShot fits cameras which the Raynox can't fit. So, as opposed to being competing products, they actually work together to accommodate every compact camera made, both P&S and Super Zooms.

And that's the good news . . . there IS a macro lens for your compact.
